ClientEarth, an international non-profit organisation focused on using the power of law to protect people and the environment, is recruiting a Head of People & Culture for its global team. The permanent, full-time position is based in Brussels and offers a monthly salary of €7,066.

The organisation is seeking a senior HR professional who can operate in a complex international environment, advise senior leadership and help strengthen organisational culture and effectiveness.

Candidates are encouraged to apply early, as applications will be reviewed throughout the advertising period rather than only after the deadline.

Application deadline: September 21, 2026

The initial application deadline is September 21, 2026.

Candidates who pass the initial screening will be invited to answer three additional questions. These answers must be submitted by September 24, 2026.

According to the vacancy announcement, failure to submit the additional answers by the deadline will be treated as an indication that the candidate is no longer interested in the position.

Interviews are scheduled to begin during the week commencing September 28, 2026.

What will the Head of People & Culture do?

The successful candidate will play a senior strategic role within ClientEarth and will work closely with the organisation’s Global Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities include advising senior leaders on issues such as:

  • organisational design;
  • workforce planning;
  • leadership effectiveness;
  • organisational change;
  • People-related strategy and development.

The Head of People & Culture will also provide functional leadership and coordination across the global People team, ensuring consistent standards, effective delivery and clear accountability.

Another important part of the role will be leading People-related organisational development initiatives designed to support ClientEarth’s growth, international expansion and changing organisational structures.

The successful candidate will also contribute to ClientEarth’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Decolonisation strategy, with an emphasis on international best practices and measurable progress in decision-making, organisational systems and leadership.

Who is ClientEarth looking for?

ClientEarth says the ideal candidate should be an experienced HR or People leader with significant experience working in complex organisations.

An MCIPD qualification, or equivalent senior-level experience in HR, organisational development, employee relations or employment law, is listed as an essential requirement.

Applicants should also have:

  • extensive experience leading or shaping a global People or HR function;
  • experience acting as a trusted adviser to senior executives;
  • experience working and negotiating with trade unions and employee representative organisations;
  • experience leading organisational change projects involving multiple countries;
  • experience working within complex and matrixed organisations.

The position is therefore aimed at an experienced HR executive rather than an early-career HR professional.

Hybrid working and employee benefits

The position is offered on a hybrid working basis.

ClientEarth states that it is a Flexa-accredited employer and allows employees to work from home or another location within the country where their employment contract is issued for up to 80% of their month. The remaining 20% is expected to be office-based.

The organisation also highlights its commitment to diversity and inclusion and says it welcomes applications from people from different backgrounds.

However, there is an important eligibility requirement: ClientEarth can only employ candidates who already have the legal right to work in Belgium or the United Kingdom.
